How do foreigners apply for Beijing medical insurance card?

Legal analysis: Beijing insured persons need to apply for social security card filing in advance to settle down directly. Insured persons who meet the conditions of the basic medical insurance in this Municipality and retire in different places, work in different places for a long time, live in different places for a long time and go abroad for medical treatment may choose to handle direct settlement for the record according to the progress of the national direct settlement work.

Three types of participants in Beijing's basic medical insurance, namely, retirees from different places, long-term workers in other places, and long-term residents in different places, go through the relevant regulations and filing procedures in the social insurance agencies under their jurisdiction through the unit (or no unit through the social security office) and directly settle for the record;

Insured persons going abroad for medical treatment shall, in accordance with the relevant provisions and filing procedures of this Municipality for going abroad for medical treatment, handle direct settlement and filing in the medical insurance agencies in their respective jurisdictions. Insured persons in this Municipality shall choose their own designated medical institutions for direct settlement and filing in designated medical institutions that can be directly settled in different places.

Legal basis: Article 2 of the Social Insurance Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) The state establishes social insurance systems such as basic old-age insurance, basic medical insurance, industrial injury insurance, unemployment insurance and maternity insurance to protect citizens' right to get material help from the state and society in the event of old age, illness, industrial injury, unemployment and childbirth.
