Can the money from the social security card be used to buy things?

The social security card money can't be used to buy things, as follows:

1, the money in the social security card can be bought at the drugstore. If the accumulated amount in the personal account of the first-class insured of basic medical insurance exceeds 5% of the average wage of employees in this Municipality last year, the excess part can be purchased in the designated retail pharmacies for over-the-counter drugs in the medical insurance drug list;

2. When you go to the social health center to see a doctor, you can swipe the money from your personal account in the social security card. The expenses incurred by the first-class insured of basic medical insurance in the scope of medical insurance drugs and part of the diagnosis and treatment catalogue in the designated community health centers of this Municipality, except for the expenses of dental treatment, rehabilitation physiotherapy and large-scale medical equipment examination and treatment, shall be paid by the personal account for 70%, and by the basic medical insurance serious illness pooling fund and local supplementary medical insurance fund for 30%.

Legal basis: Article 58 of People's Republic of China (PRC) Social Insurance Law.

The employing unit shall, within 30 days from the date of employment, apply to the social insurance agency for social insurance registration for its employees. If the social insurance has not been registered, the social insurance agency shall verify the social insurance premium it should pay.

Employees-free individual industrial and commercial households who voluntarily participate in social insurance, part-time employees who do not participate in social insurance in the employing unit and other flexible employees shall apply to the social insurance agency for social insurance registration.

The state establishes a national unified personal social security number. Personal social security number is a citizen's identity number.
