Can a social security card be used as a health insurance card?

The social security card can be used as a medical insurance card. The social security card contains medical insurance and other functions, can be used for medical reimbursement. However, to be eligible for reimbursement, you need to meet the following conditions: you need to be enrolled in a health insurance program; you need to have your medical expenses covered by the health insurance program; and you need to have your medical expenses covered by the health insurance program.

Legal Basis

Article 28 of the Social Insurance Law stipulates that medical expenses incurred in accordance with the basic medical insurance drug list, diagnostic and treatment items, standards of medical service facilities, as well as those incurred in emergencies and salvages, shall be paid out of the basic medical insurance fund in accordance with state regulations. Article 29 of the Social Insurance Law states that the portion of a participant's medical expenses that should be paid out of the basic medical insurance fund shall be settled directly between the social insurance administration organization and the medical institutions and drug business units. The administrative departments of social insurance and health shall establish a settlement system for medical expenses for medical treatment in other places to facilitate the enjoyment of basic medical insurance by insured persons.
