Legal basis: According to Article 53 of the Military Service Law of People's Republic of China (PRC), active servicemen enjoy welfare benefits such as vacation, rest, medical care and housing. The state improves the welfare of military personnel according to the level of economic and social development. The state implements the military insurance system, which is linked with the social insurance system. Soldiers enjoy the prescribed military insurance benefits during their active service. After discharged from active service, military personnel shall continue social insurance relationships such as pension, medical care and unemployment in accordance with relevant state regulations and enjoy corresponding social insurance benefits. During the period when the spouses of active servicemen are not employed with the army, they shall enjoy the corresponding security benefits in accordance with the relevant provisions of the state.
