Is there a difference between rural hukou and urban hukou social security?

Legal analysis: Rural insurance and urban insurance have the same nature and are collectively called social insurance.

There is no difference between rural hukou and urban hukou in participating in endowment insurance. The difference lies in the type of insurance.

If there is a work unit in rural hukou, the unit will help to buy the following five insurances: old-age insurance, medical insurance, unemployment insurance, industrial injury insurance and maternity insurance. If there is no work unit, you can only buy the new rural cooperative medical system and the new rural cooperative medical system.

Those with urban household registration can help pay social security five insurances, and those without jobs can pay social security old-age insurance, flexible employment medical insurance or urban residents' old-age insurance in their own names.

Legal basis: Article 58 of People's Republic of China (PRC) Social Insurance Law. The employing unit shall handle social insurance registration for employees within 30 days from the date of employment. If the social insurance has not been registered, the social insurance agency shall verify the social insurance premium it should pay. Employees-free individual industrial and commercial households who voluntarily participate in social insurance, part-time employees who do not participate in social insurance in the employing unit and other flexible employees shall apply to the social insurance agency for social insurance registration. The state establishes a national unified personal social security number. Personal social security number is a citizen's identity number.
