At present, China has no relevant institutional arrangements for the transfer of social insurance relations with other countries. Therefore, social security paid abroad cannot be linked with social security in China.

China citizens who have worked abroad but have not lost their China citizenship can participate in the basic old-age insurance for employees or urban and rural residents in China in accordance with relevant regulations. However, as an international practice, most countries generally require foreigners who are employed in their own countries to participate in their own social insurance, pay social insurance premiums, and give national treatment through legislation.

Therefore, China citizens working abroad should participate in social insurance according to the relevant laws of the country where they work.
