How long does it take to activate the medical insurance card for the first time?

The medical insurance card will take effect immediately after being activated for the first time. The relevant provisions for activating the medical insurance card are as follows:

1, the general social security card can be used after activation, but the medical insurance should be used in the fourth month after the continuous insurance payment has expired for 3 months;

2. The social security card contains two accounts: a medical account and a financial account. After receiving the card, the cardholder must bring his valid ID card and social security card to any local service bank outlet to activate the social security card medical account and financial account, and set two account passwords when handling;

3. The insured can entrust a third person to handle matters that cannot be handled in person. When entrusting a third party to handle the matter, the client shall confirm that the social security card has been activated with his ID card, the insured ID card and the power of attorney:

(1) Log in to official website, the local government, inquire about the local social security bureau, and call the service number of the social security bureau. Inquiry requires my ID card or social security number. Apply to the local social security bureau for inquiry;

(2) Set the passwords of medical insurance account and financial account. In the second month after the activation of the new social security card, the social security department will inject the personal account funds of medical insurance into the new social security card, and the personal account funds in the old medical insurance card can still be used until the balance is 0. The cardholder brings the original personal ID card to the branches of the issuing bank to activate the financial function and medical insurance function of the new social security card;

(3) Use the social security card to directly enable the social security function in the designated medical insurance hospital. When the insured person uses the social security card for the first time in a designated medical institution, he can directly activate the social security function by simply registering for outpatient service or hospitalization. When the insured uses the social security card for the first time in the designated medical insurance pharmacy, he inserts the original medical insurance card, and then inserts the social security card as required to activate the social security card.

The basic medical insurance for employees, the new rural cooperative medical system and the basic medical insurance for urban residents shall be implemented in accordance with state regulations.

Article 28

Medical expenses that meet the basic medical insurance drug list, diagnosis and treatment items, medical service facilities standards and emergency rescue shall be paid by the basic medical insurance fund in accordance with state regulations.

Article 29

The medical expenses of the insured shall be paid by the basic medical insurance fund, and shall be directly settled by social insurance agencies, medical institutions and pharmaceutical business units.

The administrative department of social insurance and the administrative department of health shall establish a settlement system for medical expenses in different places to facilitate the insured to enjoy the basic medical insurance benefits.
