Can you collect unemployment benefits after 8 months of social security payments?

Can't. According to Article 45 of the Social Insurance Law of the People's Republic of China, unemployed persons shall receive unemployment insurance benefits from the unemployment insurance fund if they meet the following conditions: the employer and the unemployed person have paid unemployment insurance premiums for one year before the unemployment; the employment has been interrupted not because of the person's own will; and they have been registered as unemployed and have a requirement to find a job. Social security paid 8 months does not meet the provisions of the Chinese People's *** and State Social Insurance Law, so social security paid 8 months can not receive unemployment benefits.
