The annual contribution standard for the New Rural Insurance is currently set at 100 yuan, 200 yuan, 300 yuan, 400 yuan, and 500 yuan per year, and insured farmers are free to choose according to their own financial ability. At the time of the implementation of the new rural insurance system, those who have reached the age of 60 and are not entitled to basic pension insurance for urban workers do not need to make contributions, and can receive the basic pension on a monthly basis, but their children who are eligible to participate in the insurance system should participate in the insurance system and make contributions; those who are less than 15 years away from the age of receiving the insurance system should make contributions on an annual basis, or are allowed to make retroactive contributions, with the cumulative contribution not exceeding 15 years; those who are more than 15 years away from the age of receiving the insurance system should make contributions on an annual basis, with the cumulative contribution being no less than 15 years; if the accumulated contributions are less than 15 years, the basic pension will not be enjoyed and the principal and interest of the individual contributions will be returned to the person in a lump sum.
