If the employee insured by the employer fails to pay the medical insurance premium on time, the employer shall repay the unpaid fees, interest and late fees within 3 months from the date of default, and the medical expenses that should be paid by the overall fund during the holdover period can be fully repaid, and the payment period of the insured can be accumulated, and the corresponding amount is included in the personal account; If the unpaid fees, interest and late payment fees are paid after 3 months from the date of default, the insured person can accumulate the payment period and do not enjoy the social medical insurance benefits for employees. If the medical insurance payment is suspended for three months and then renewed, the previous payment will not become invalid. According to the cumulative calculation of the payment period of social medical insurance for employees, there is no situation that the payment will be invalid if it is interrupted for more than 3 months. When the insured reaches the statutory retirement age, employees who have paid the social medical insurance for employees for a specified number of years can enjoy the social medical insurance benefits for retirees.
