What does a social security card and social security number look like

The social security number, a number assigned to you by the social security system, is as unique as an ID number and is your identity with the Social Security Administration. The social security number will be recorded for you for the rest of your life, including everything from your contributions, sickness, unemployment, job training, housing payments, and so on.

The computer number on your social security card is your social security number.
