1. According to official website, the money in the Shanghai social security card actually has two parts. One is the account of medical insurance card. The money (balance) in the medical insurance card should refer to the personal health account of medical insurance. After paying medical insurance every month, the medical insurance center will transfer it to your personal account every year for your medical use. This is the medical insurance fund.

2. The other account is a bank account, which can be your own deposit or medical expenses paid by yourself when you see a doctor.
