Retirement wages and social security are not the same thing, and the differences are as follows:

1, the concept is different, endowment insurance refers to the state and society according to laws and regulations; Social security is the abbreviation of social insurance, which refers to five kinds of insurance: endowment insurance, medical insurance, maternity insurance, unemployment insurance and industrial injury insurance.

2, the content is different, although social security includes endowment insurance, it is not limited to endowment insurance; Old-age insurance only provides old-age security;

3. The purpose is different. The main purpose of endowment insurance is to ensure the basic life after old age. Buying social security can provide medical security and guarantee the basic life during unemployment and work-related injuries.

Legal basis: Article 58 of People's Republic of China (PRC) Social Insurance Law.

The employing unit shall, within 30 days from the date of employment, apply to the social insurance agency for social insurance registration for its employees. If the social insurance has not been registered, the social insurance agency shall verify the social insurance premium it should pay.

Employees-free individual industrial and commercial households who voluntarily participate in social insurance, part-time employees who do not participate in social insurance in the employing unit and other flexible employees shall apply to the social insurance agency for social insurance registration.

The state establishes a national unified personal social security number. Personal social security number is a citizen's identity number.
