Article 12 of the Provisions on Maternity Insurance for Employees in Guangdong Province

The necessary funds are paid from the Maternity Insurance Fund.

Maternity insurance benefits include maternity medical expenses and maternity allowances.

Article 13

Medical expenses for maternity enjoyed by employees include the following:

(1) Medical expenses for maternity, i.e., medical expenses incurred by a female employee for pregnancy and childbirth during the maternity period, including expenses for prenatal checkups in accordance with the national and provincial regulations, termination of pregnancy, and delivery, surgery, hospitalization, medication, and diagnosis and treatment of complications and disorders of pregnancy during the period of hospitalization for delivery. The treatment of maternity medical expenses enjoyed by an employee's unemployed spouse shall be implemented with reference to the standard of maternity medical treatment for urban residents' basic medical insurance in the coordinating area where the employee is located.

Payment of maternity medical expenses from the Maternity Insurance Fund shall be in accordance with the National and Provincial Maternity Insurance Drug Catalogs and the standards for basic medical insurance diagnosis and treatment items and medical service facilities.
