How to apply for unemployment insurance

Procedures for unemployment insurance:

1. The employer issues a certificate of separation and informs the social security agency;

2. The unemployed person goes to the designated public ****employment service agency with the certificate of separation to register as unemployed;

3. The person goes to the social security agency to go through the procedures for receiving unemployment insurance benefits. Unemployment insurance is one of the five major programs of social insurance. Unemployment insurance refers to a social insurance system in which workers temporarily lose their jobs due to reasons other than their own, resulting in an interruption of their wage income and loss of their source of livelihood, and receive material assistance from the state or society to protect their basic livelihood when they are looking for new employment opportunities.

Unemployment insurance process:

1. The insured unit issues two copies of the Certificate of Termination of Labor Relationship, one copy of which is submitted to the Unemployment Insurance Center, and one copy of which is submitted to the Labor Dispute Arbitration Committee of the Bureau of Labor Security for record;

2. The Unemployment Insurance Center conducts a rigorous investigation and verification of the situation with the Certificate of Termination of Labor Relationship from the insured unit (the unemployed person brings along the signed labor contract with the unit and the labor contract with the unemployed person). The unemployed person will bring along the labor contract signed with the unit), and if it is confirmed that there is no mistake, the center will issue two copies of the Unemployment Insurance Claims Registration Form and one copy of the Unemployment Job Search Registration Form;

3. The unemployed person will fill in all the columns on the front side of the Unemployment Insurance Claims Registration Form, and on the back side of the form, please go to the unit accepting the opinion of the unit accepting the opinion of the family planning relationship to get the seal of the unit accepting the opinion of the family planning relationship in the place where he or she holds the hukou. Carefully fill out the "job search registration form";

4, pay three one-inch color photos and a copy of the unemployed person's identity card. The unit should submit your Certificate of Termination of Labor Contract, file, and declaration form for the unemployed to the social security within 15 after the separation procedure; you should hold the Certificate of Termination of Labor Contract, personal ID card, and a number of photographs to the social security to register as unemployed and apply for unemployment benefits;

5. Once the process is completed, you can go to the district labor security department in the place where you are registered as domiciled or where you are temporarily residing to receive unemployment insurance benefits.

Legal basis: Article 50 of the Social Insurance Law of the People's Republic of China

The employer shall promptly issue a certificate of termination or dissolution of the labor relationship for the unemployed person and inform the social insurance agency of the list of unemployed persons within fifteen days of the date of termination or dissolution of the labor relationship.

The unemployed person shall, with the certificate of termination or dissolution of labor relations issued by the employer, go to the designated public ****employment service agency to register as unemployed in a timely manner.

With the proof of unemployment registration and personal identification, the unemployed person shall go to the social insurance agency to go through the formalities for receiving unemployment insurance benefits. The period of receiving unemployment insurance benefits is calculated from the date of registering as unemployed.
