How do you think the rural elderly provide for the elderly?

I am a rural baby and grew up in the countryside, so I have seen many "ways of supporting the elderly" in rural areas since I was a child. Compared with the way of providing for the aged in cities, it is really different. Let me share with you what I have seen, heard and felt.

I. Growing vegetables and raising poultry

Old people in rural areas, if they can still work, generally will not let themselves be idle. They may be used to working all their lives and always want to find something to do. Farming is their most familiar activity. Even if they have no energy to grow rice, they will grow vegetables in the yard or in their own fields, or raise chickens and ducks to be self-sufficient.

Grandma used to like growing vegetables in the yard, whether it was oil wheat, parsley or onions. As long as she or her family wants to eat them, she will ask her mother to buy seeds and sow them herself. She will also raise a dozen three-yellow chickens, typical rural life ~

Second, do odd jobs

They always seem to find some odd jobs to do ... they always have their own channels, such as helping to plant sugar cane, or helping to pick sugar oranges and peppers during the Spring Festival. The salary is also very low, earning 80 to 90 yuan for eight hours a day.

Last year, as the Chinese New Year approached, many old people in my hometown went to help pick sugar oranges. Every year, because a boss on the mountain contracted a piece of land to grow sugar oranges, these old people were hired to work in the mature season. Cutting sugar oranges, picking fruits and putting them in baskets cost 90 yuan a day. Finally, some people drive trucks to load directly and send them to big cities. After about half a month, they earned 1000 yuan. Everyone is happy ...

Third, chat in the canteen.

Generally, old people who can't do it anymore will sit in the village canteen and watch the cars coming and going. If they meet familiar people or other "old buddies", they will start to become lively. They will start chatting everywhere and say whatever they want. It is more common for old people to chat in the canteen, while old women will concentrate on chatting at the entrance of the village, otherwise they will bask in the sun and see who passes by, which is special. The topic suddenly opened, don't ask me why I know, because my hometown is a canteen, and I have tried to brag to those old women and listen to their gossip, so I casually echoed a few words!

This is what I learned, and it is also the most common phenomenon in our local area. In rural areas, there is little talk about providing for the aged. They live to be old, while the old people in the city visit parks or dance square dances or invite friends to eat and travel when they have nothing to do. In contrast, the gap is really big, and rural elderly people really rarely go to nursing homes. No offspring or children are unwilling to support them unless they have to.

In addition to the above, there are some old people who just buy some side dishes with their children's living expenses every month. Three meals a day is simple and I always want to save money. To solve the problem of food and clothing, they just go out for a walk, walk from the entrance to the end of the village, and then go home to rest ~ over and over again.
