Rural households can also apply for social security.

Social security is divided into three types: one for rural hukou, which pays the New Rural Cooperative and New Rural Insurance; one for urban hukou, which pays the urban residents' pension and urban residents' medical care; and one type of workers' insurance without any restriction on hukou, which includes pension insurance, medical insurance, work injury insurance, unemployment insurance and residual packages.

The first and second types have now been merged into residential social security. If an individual pays social security, it is necessary to go to the place of residence to apply.

If a company pays social security, it can do so in a different place, and all it needs is a copy of its ID card, a 1-inch photo, and a labor contract, which it pays for employee insurance.
