2016 minimum wage introduction schedule
According to the social security department of Chongqing, the city has raised the two grades of the minimum wage to 1,500 yuan and 1,400 yuan per month, respectively, since Jan. 1, 2016, compared with the level of Jan. 1, 2014, respectively, increased by 250 yuan, or 20 percent, 21.7 percent, according to the city's social security department.
According to the reporter's collation, 26 provinces, cities and autonomous regions have adjusted their minimum wages in 2015. Nine provinces have announced adjustments since September this year.
Among them, the adjusted minimum wage in Jilin Province is 1,480 yuan per month for the first grade, 1,380 yuan per month for the second and third grades, and 1,280 yuan per month, with increases of 12.1 percent, 13.1 percent, and 14.3 percent, respectively.
There were 25, 27 and 19 provinces that adjusted their minimum wages in 2012-2014, respectively. only Hebei, Liaoning, Jiangsu and Qinghai are left to announce adjustments in 2015. The last adjustment was made on July 1, 2013 in Liaoning. Qinghai, Liaoning and Hebei, on the other hand, adjusted on May 1, July 1 and Dec. 1, 2014, respectively.
However, Jiangsu's human resources and social services department has already released the news that the minimum wage will be adjusted at the right time and in the right amount in the second half of the year. The number of provinces adjusting their minimum wages this year is expected to reach 27 or more.
Jane Xinhua, deputy director of Wuhan University's Economic Development Research Center, believes it is necessary to speed up the upward adjustment of the minimum wage. With China's economy totaling more than 10 trillion yuan, more money can be injected into social security to ensure that residents have money to spend, which will increase the contribution of consumption to the economy. When the minimum wage goes up, other reforms should follow. "To change the uneven distribution of income, apart from raising the minimum wage, personal tax reform is also needed." Jane Xinhua said.
Combing found that in recent years, as the pace of minimum wage adjustments has accelerated, some places in the west have seen their minimum wages even exceed those in eastern provinces.
For example, Guizhou and Yunnan adjusted the minimum wage standard on October 1 and September 1 this year, respectively, and the first minimum wage is 1,600 yuan and 1,570 yuan per month, and the first minimum wage in Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang was 1,620 yuan and 1,670 yuan, respectively, after the adjustment on July 1, which all exceeded the level of 1,500 yuan per month in the first grade of the minimum wage in Fujian after the adjustment on August 1, the first grade of the minimum wage.
And Shandong on March 1 this year after the adjustment of the first tranche of the minimum wage is only 1600 yuan / month, not as good as Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang. Even worse than Shanxi on May 1 this year after the adjustment of the first tranche of 1620 yuan / month level.
