Can Singaporean students practice?

Yes,

In order to continue to attract talents to join the field of public service, the Public Service Commission (PSC) began to provide top college students with internship opportunities in the field of public service at the end of last year, so that they can understand the challenges and satisfaction of public service.

In addition, the Department of Public Services will hold a "Public Policy Challenge" for students from National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University and Singapore Management University, so that they can understand the challenges they face in implementing policies by discussing policy topics.

The winner of the competition will have the opportunity to talk with the leaders of the public service department and be invited to apply for joining the administrative associate officer program of the public service department, or to apply for a mid-term scholarship or a master's scholarship.

Zhang Zhixian, the defense minister in charge of public service, announced the new plan when attending the public service scholarship awarding ceremony.

He said that outstanding students in Singapore have a variety of choices, and they are welcomed by top overseas universities, which can provide students with grants or even scholarships without contracts. Many students studying abroad have also achieved excellent results, and companies are scrambling to hire them with attractive conditions before graduation. All these factors may lead to the brain drain of local talents.

He said: "But in Singapore, we are very lucky. Over the years, many talents have chosen public service scholarships. " He pointed out that public service has special significance and can attract those who are willing to serve the people and want to change the overall living environment, and the scholarship system has successfully attracted many talents to join public service.

However, the government also realizes that the way to attract talents must be constantly innovated, which requires them to deeply understand the challenges and sense of accomplishment of public services.

At present, the Public Service Committee provides internship opportunities for college students in the public service sector, which has now been extended to junior college students. Excellent junior college students can practice in the public service department for several weeks after the first grade or A-level exam.

The authorities hope that junior college students can better understand the operation of government departments so that they can make more informed choices when applying for scholarships.

Last year, 73 people won public service scholarships, more than 53 people in the previous year. The Public Service Commission received 2000 applications this year and interviewed 370 applicants, which is the highest number in the past five years.
