Application conditions of MSF

Basic requirements for frontline work of MSF:

experience

Have two years or more professional working experience.

It's time to participate in the rescue mission

Doctors are usually involved in rescue missions for at least six months (except surgeons and anesthesiologists, who may be sent to participate in some short-term rescue work). The participation time of other professionals is at least six to twelve months, and applicants who can work for nine to twelve months will be given priority. If the applicant can engage in rescue work for a long time, or even take the work of MSF as a lifelong career, priority will be given.

Good team spirit

Doctors Without Borders volunteers will work and live together. Because of the long working hours, backward living environment and little private space, volunteers need to be tolerant and adaptable, and are willing to communicate with people of different nationalities and cultures.

Life/work experience in developing countries

Most of MSF's relief projects are in developing countries, and it is better to have working experience in these countries.

Ability to cope with stress

Volunteers must be able to cope with difficult and unpredictable situations, such as adapting to local culture and living environment, observing safety rules and team sports.

adaptive capacity

The situation of rescue work changes at any time. In the process of carrying out the task, the scope of work, departure date, team composition and working environment may change at any time, so flexibility is very important for the smooth completion of rescue work.

linguistic competence

Fluency in English or French is a must, and people who can speak Portuguese, Spanish, Russian or Arabic will have more opportunities to be assigned jobs. Applicants who can speak English and French will be given priority.

Attend a tropical medicine course
