Huang Tu Town is located on the western edge of Jiangyin, bordering Ligang Town in the east, Wujin District and Xincheng in the north, National High-tech Development Zone and Xinbei District in the south and west, and the Yangtze River in the north. The town covers an area of 6449 square kilometers, with a permanent population of 57,300 and a temporary population of 40,800. Huang Tu People's Commune was merged in 1958, Huang Tu Township was established in 1983, and Huang Tu Town was established in 1987. In June, 200 1 year, Huang Tu Town merged with Shizhuang Town, still called Huang Tu Town.

Huang Tu Town has a long history and rich cultural heritage. It was listed as the Gaochengdun and Liangzhu cultural site, which was the first of the top ten archaeological discoveries in China in 1999, showing the civilization of 5000 years. The tomb of Prince Wu Jiguang in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Jiangyin City.
