Jiangsu takes the lead in comprehensively promoting rural doctors’ pension security at the provincial level across the country and encourages rural doctors to participate in the basic pension insurance for enterprise employees. For rural doctors who do not meet the conditions for inclusion in social pension insurance, the local government will provide appropriate subsidies. As of November 2012, 90.1% of rural doctors in Jiangsu who should be insured have participated in the basic pension insurance for enterprise employees, and 92.9% of retired rural doctors have received reasonable pension subsidies from the government, effectively solving the worries of rural doctors.
