Why is Xingtai called Niucheng?

Xingtai city alias, lying in a bull market.

1. According to historical records, Xingtai City was built by Xing Gong in the Spring and Autumn Period, expanded and renovated in the Sixteen Kingdoms Period, and rebuilt in the Northern Song Dynasty. The city wall is surrounded by nine miles in thirteen steps and is six steps wide, so it is commonly known as the lying cow city.

2. Folklore: A long time ago, Xingtai was rich in land and water plants. When people first came to this land, they saw a magical cow lying on the ground. So people settled down in the place where the god cow was located, multiplied and gradually formed towns. People call their town Sleeping Cow City.

3. Folklore: In ancient times, there was a year of heavy rain, the farmland was flooded, the city was forced by floods, and the people suffered. A magical cow fell from the sky and drank back the flood.

Beautiful legends go back to ancient times. Until today, there are many stories and relics about cattle in Xingtai city. There are Dongniujiao Village and Xiniujiao Village in the south, and Niuwei River across the east and west "Old Xingtai" in the north. I probably remember the area around Xingtai Cinema and Xinhua Printing Factory in the city today, which used to be called "Tieniucha". In addition, there are Nanchang Street and Beichang Street in the city, which is said to be the change of the intestines of a god cow. But now people often write the word "intestine" as "long" and call it Nanchang Street and Beichang Street.
