II. Introduction to Wuchang Uprising Memorial Hall of Xinhai Revolution
The Wuchang Uprising Memorial Hall of Xinhai Revolution is a memorial museum built on the basis of the former site of the Hubei Military Government of the Republic of China (that is, the former site of Wuchang Uprising Army Government). Located in Cavalry Training Arena, Wuchang, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, it is adjacent to Yellow Crane Tower in the west, Snake Mountain in the north and Shouyi Square in the south. The former site covers an area of more than 2, square meters, with a construction area of nearly 1, square meters. Because of the red walls and tiles in the old site, Wuhan people call it the red building.
The Red Mansion was originally the site of Hubei Consultation Bureau established by the Qing government, and was completed in 191 (the second year of Xuantong in Qing Dynasty). On October 1, 1911, the Hubei revolutionaries assembled under the banner of Sun Yat-sen's democratic revolutionary thought, gaining momentum for a long time, were the first in the world, bravely fired the first shot of the Revolution of 1911 and recovered Wuchang in one fell swoop. The next day, the military government of the Republic of China was established here, and the Hubei New Army Association Li Yuanhong was elected as the governor, announcing the abolition of the Xuantong title of the Qing Dynasty and establishing the Republic of China. Immediately, Huang Xing, one of the leaders of the Revolution of 1911, rushed to Wuchang as the wartime commander-in-chief of the revolutionary army, and led the heroic and tragic battle against the Qing army in the south. Wuchang Yisheng won the national response, and more than 26 years of Qing dynasty rule suddenly collapsed, and more than 2, years of feudal monarchy ended. Wuchang is therefore known as the first righteous area, and the Red Chamber is revered as the gate of the Republic of China.
In 1961, the Red Mansion was announced by the State Council as the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units in the name of the former site of Wuchang Rebel Government. In October 1981, the Wuchang Uprising Memorial Hall of the Revolution of 1911 was established on the basis of the Red Mansion, and the name of the hall was inscribed by the honorary president of the country, Soong Ching Ling. After more than 3 years of construction and development, it has been and is moving towards the goals of the memorial center of the Revolution of 1911, the protection and collection center of historical relics and materials, the exhibition center and the scientific research center, and has been named as the national youth education base, the national 1 patriotic education demonstration bases, the patriotic education base of the China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and the national AAAA-level tourist attraction.
