Jiangsu University is located in Zhenjiang, a famous historical and cultural city with beautiful scenery. Approved by the Ministry of Education in August, 200012000, the former Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, Zhenjiang Medical College and Zhenjiang Normal College merged to form a teaching and research-oriented comprehensive university featuring engineering.

The school has the same ancestry as Nanjing University and Southeast University, and its history can be traced back to Sanjiang Normal School founded in Nanjing by 1902, Liu Kunyi, Zhang Zhidong and Wei Guangtao.
