Nanping No.1 Middle School was founded in 1903. When the school was founded, it was called "Yanping High School Attached". Its predecessor was Daonan College. Since then, the name of the school has been changed several times, and it was named "No.1 Middle School in Nanping City, Fujian Province" on 1956, which is still in use today. 1957 was listed as a provincial key middle school by the Education Department. 1995 was rated as a first-class standard school for ordinary middle schools in Fujian province. 1999 cancelled junior high school and became an independent ordinary high school.

There are 36 classes in the third grade of the school, with students 1978.
