Characteristics of Lu Opera

Lu Opera music is gradually developed on the basis of Shandong traditional folk song "Sit and Play". Its most prominent feature is that it is both "drama" and "Quyi". Its singing is dominated by banqiang, and it also sings Qupai. The tune is simple, beautiful, flexible, easy to learn and sing. There are three basic types of boards: Siping, Baner (including buttress board and running water) and doll.

The accompaniment instruments of Lu opera are divided into sub-field and dance field. Wenchang's main musical instruments are lyre and dulcimer, followed by erhu, sanxian, pipa, flute and suona, which can be increased or decreased according to the plot.

Accompaniment often takes the form of "learning tongue" (counterpoint). For example, two-board accompaniment imitates aria, and Siping accompaniment imitates the second half or tail cavity of aria. The accompaniment instruments in the martial arts field mainly include leather drums, banquets, big gongs, small gongs, large cymbals, hall drums and big drums. The gongs and drums are all absorbed from Beijing Opera and other operas.
