On that day, two workers at the membrane filtration station in the extraction workshop of Yidu Dongyangguang Biochemical Pharmaceutical Company had an accident while cleaning the transfer tank of erythromycin fermentation liquid. The operator Mao Kongming died on the spot due to suffocation, and the other Worker Yang Haibo was seriously injured.

The reporter learned at a hospital in Yidu City that the injured Yang Haibo was rushed to the hospital for treatment after the incident and showed symptoms of poisoning. He is still being treated in the ICU of the hospital as of press time. Still unconscious. It is understood that Yang Haibo, who was 28 years old at the time, lived in Niejiahe Town of the city. He had just worked for Dongyangguang Biochemical Pharmaceutical Company for a year and had a son who was less than 6 years old.

A worker from Dongguangguang Company told the author that as a rule, the workshop must clean the erythromycin fermentation liquid filtrate transfer tank every other week or so. When the incident occurred, Po Kongming went into the tank for cleaning first. Yang Haibo, who was outside the tank, found that there was no sound inside, so he entered to rescue, but was also knocked down unexpectedly. After other workers found out, they rescued the two people from the tank, but at this moment, Mao Kongming was dead and Yang Haibo was in a coma. Some workers said that what knocked the worker down may have been caused by some exhaust gas produced in the tank.

After the accident, the Yidu Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government attached great importance to it. Zhuang Guangming, deputy secretary of the Yidu Municipal Party Committee and mayor, Jiang Zhengxiong, member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and executive deputy mayor, and deputy mayor Wang Shibin immediately led the government office, Safety supervision, environmental protection, public security, business, labor and other departments rushed to the scene, established medical treatment, accident investigation, aftermath treatment and other accident handling working groups and carried out their work.
