Zhejiang University of Water Resources and Hydropower is located in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, sponsored by the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government and managed by the Provincial Water Resources Department and the Provincial Education Department. The construction and development of the school has always been highly valued by the provincial party committee, the provincial government and the Ministry of Water Resources, and it is one of the three undergraduate water conservancy universities in China.

The only application-oriented engineering undergraduate university in Zhejiang province with the characteristics of water conservancy and hydropower, the only university jointly established by the Ministry of Water Resources and the People's Government of Zhejiang Province, the master's degree of Zhejiang Province was awarded to the project construction unit, holding Zhejiang Water Conservancy Engineering Construction Supervision Co., Ltd., and the affiliated middle school-Nanxun Branch of Zhenhai Middle School.
