Ningbo is called "Yong" for short, which was called as early as the Zhou Dynasty. The word "Yong" is the hieroglyphic of the ancient clock. On the boundary between Yin and Feng counties, the peaks are very similar to ancient clocks, so it is called Yongshan, this river is called Yongjiang, and this area is called "Yong".

The history of Ningbo can be traced back to 7000 years ago. The excavation of Hemudu site proves that Ningbo is one of the earliest rice-growing areas in the world. In the Xia Dynasty over 2000 BC, the name of Ningbo was Yin, and it was Yue in the Spring and Autumn Period.
