What exactly is an international Chinese teacher?

Specifically, it means teaching Chinese to foreigners.

Based on my many years of experience in the international Chinese teaching industry, the following points are for reference only:

First of all, the biggest problem in the teaching industry of Chinese as a foreign language at present is the issue of employment, not Is there a question of whether there is a certificate?

In recent years, various certificate training institutions in China have produced tens of thousands of certified Chinese teachers. At present, certificate training institutions can train for certification, but they cannot really solve the problem of employment. The so-called "recommended to the cooperative Chinese teaching platform for employment after certification" only packages students' resumes and sends them to Chinese schools, and schools receive thousands of similar applications every month. Resume, recommending employment in this way is like looking for a needle in a haystack, with no real guarantee. Some institutions insist on requiring students to take exams before recommending them for employment. In fact, the current Hanban project only states that a certificate may be required in the future, and currently there is no requirement to hold a certificate to work. Certificates are considered as bonus points at most, but are not required. Those institutions that require certified recommendations are usually a "delayed approach." Because it may take one or two years from registration to taking the exam to getting the certificate. Whether the other party will recognize the recommendation then is a question, not to mention that the institution does not guarantee how long it will take to get the certificate before it can be recommended. The irresponsible practices of similar training institutions have resulted in a situation where a large number of Chinese teachers have certificates but no jobs.

Secondly, certificates are not a stepping stone, real Chinese teaching ability and rich Chinese teaching experience are.

When foreigners go to Chinese teaching institutions to choose Chinese teachers, they generally do not look at the qualifications of the Chinese teachers. What kind of certificate does it require teachers to conduct a trial teaching of Chinese language? If they pass the trial, they will sign a contract to learn. Therefore, when real Chinese teaching institutions recruit Chinese teachers, they do not look at the certificates that candidates have, but require trial teaching. Only candidates with real Chinese teaching abilities and rich Chinese teaching experience can pass the trial and be hired. Therefore, certificates are not a stepping stone for applying for a job as a Chinese teacher; real Chinese teaching ability and rich teaching experience are. Those who say that certificates are a stepping stone to the Chinese teaching industry are all certificate training institutions

Furthermore, the training method dominated by examinations lacks the cultivation of practical teaching abilities and cannot truly adapt to the requirements of Chinese teaching

The current teaching and training industry of Chinese as a foreign language is basically for the sake of certification. The vast majority of Chinese teachers participating in the training have obtained the so-called International Chinese Teacher Certificate without even teaching foreigners during the entire training. Drivers who get their driver's license just after passing the bus have no theoretical level, no real practical ability and teaching experience in Chinese teaching, and are unable to meet the real requirements of Chinese teaching. A large number of short-term certified teachers cannot successfully apply for suitable positions based on their teaching abilities, and real Chinese teaching institutions cannot find outstanding teachers with high teaching abilities and rich teaching experience.
