Is the maxxis tire easy to use?

Han Tai, Kumho and Maggie are rising stars in the tire industry. Hankook Tire started as early as 194 1, Korea Tire Industry Co., Ltd., and Jin Hu Tire originated from Korea Sanyang Tire Industry Co., Ltd. established in 1960. Maxis Tire is one of the brands of Zheng Xin Rubber Industry Co., Ltd. in Taiwan Province Province, China, which was established in 1967. From the sales ranking of global tire enterprises in 2005, Han Tai, Jin Hu and Maxxis ranked 8th, 9th and12nd respectively, which can be said to be evenly matched and basically in a competitive camp. Facing the China market, these three companies established a joint venture for tire production in China very early, and Han Tai was the first one. 1996, Hantai started the joint venture factory in Jiaxing, Zhejiang and Huai 'an, Jiangsu. 1997, the joint venture factory of Zheng Xin rubber in Taiwan Province province of China and Toyo rubber in Japan was completed and put into operation in Kunshan, Jiangsu. In the same year, Nanjing Jin Hu Tire Co., Ltd. also opened in 1 1.

Compared with the "Big Three", Han Tai, Jinhu and McGee have brand gaps, and their competitive advantages are more reflected in cost performance. Therefore, they rarely set foot in the luxury car field occupied by tire giants, but they make a difference in the vast world outside luxury cars, especially in the matching of domestic cars. Han Tai, Kumho and Maggie all have relatively stable customers, and their performance in the after-sales market is also remarkable.

The market decides everything. You can't just stare at the top few tires, but also give the rising stars a chance to perform. This time, we invited Han Tai, Kumho and Maggie to test their achievements. We chose tyre size 205/65R 15, and there are many types of tires of this specification. The original tires of Honda Accord 2.4 and Nissan Teana 2.3 are of this size. Our test car this time is the Chevrolet Cheng Jing manual transmission just launched by Shanghai GM. The pattern model of Jinhu tire originally equipped with this car is Powermax 769. The specific tread model of Hankook tire tested is OPTIMO H426, which is the original tire of Beijing Hyundai Yuxiang NF, and the tread model of Maxis tire is MA-65 1. At present, this kind of tire is mainly used in the aftermarket.

It can be seen from the size of 205/65R 15 that tires of this specification are often equipped on entry-level models of medium-sized cars. The power equipment and chassis settings of these models are quite satisfactory, and they do not pursue the ultimate performance, but hope to achieve a certain balance in safety, handling, comfort, economy and durability. The same is true for matching tires. All aspects should be affordable, and no project can be sloppily carried out. Of course, the price-performance ratio must have an advantage, which is a necessary condition for tire enterprises to attract the support of vehicle manufacturers and after-sales consumption. Let's first look at the basic situation of Han Tai, Jin Hu and Maggie. The Maxxis tire lags behind slightly, with a passing speed of 58.9 km/h.

The results of fixed circle test are different from those of surrounding pile test. Hankook tire ranked first, and began to lose control when the lateral acceleration (G value) reached 0.81g. Maxxis tire ranked second, only 0.79g yielded to centrifugal force, while Jin Hu tire fell to the end, and it was unable to return to heaven when it reached 0.77g. From the two tests, Hankook tire was always in the leading position in dry handling, and Jin Hu tire was comparable to Max tire. In addition, it is worth mentioning that Cheng Jing, who lacks motor cells, is relatively balanced in handling. Although it can't be compared with the BMW 3 Series used in the last tire test, it doesn't make the handling limit of the chassis appear too early, which affects our evaluation of tire performance. Braking the same car on dry ground, the same braking system, the same test requirements (100km/h initial speed emergency braking), only the tires are different, the braking distance can of course reflect the difference of longitudinal grip of different tires. Of course, we should try to eliminate the interference caused by the deviation of test conditions. For example, during the hot and cold braking test of three kinds of tires, it is necessary not only to control the tread temperature to meet the test requirements, but also to monitor the brake disc temperature at any time to avoid the influence of thermal recession of the braking system on the test results. All aspects of the test process should be patient and meticulous to ensure the fairness and justice of the results. The test results are as follows: whether it is cold (tread temperature is controlled at 27℃ 2℃) or hot (tread temperature is controlled at 55℃ 2℃), the braking distance of Jin Hu tire is the shortest, which is 46.4m (cold) and 44.9m (hot) respectively; The 48.3m (cold state) and 46.2m (hot state) of Hankook tire are not bad; Maxxis tires came last, and the cold braking distance reached 50.2 meters. The hot braking distance of 49.0 meters is slightly longer than the cold braking distance of the first two. It can be seen from the test results that tires still have a great influence on the safety of emergency braking. In addition, warm tires also have a great effect on tire grip. If the temperature is right, it can improve the braking force and driving force provided by tires, which has long been verified in top-class automobile races like F 1. Of course, in our daily driving, the feeling will not be so obvious. Dry ground noise

Tire noise is an important noise source in automobile driving, and people living next to cement roads will feel it deeply. Tire noise mainly comes from tire patterns. The car tires we use every day are all-weather tires. In order to ensure drainage, there must be tread patterns and drainage grooves. Of course, we can't use bald tires like racing cars. In the process of rotating running, the tread tire needs to quickly squeeze out the air between the tread patterns, which will produce tread noise, which is a kind of high-frequency noise, which varies with the tire tread and pavement materials. For tire manufacturers, in addition to rubber formula and process structure, they should also spend a lot of energy on pattern design in order to develop tire patterns that can ensure performance and low noise. The external noise of three groups of tires driving at a constant speed of 50km/h (manual 5th gear) was tested by sound intensity meter. Hantai OPTIMO H426, known as the silent tire, really performed the best, with a test score of 67.6dB, which was the quietest of the three sets of tires. Maggie ranked second with a test score of 67.9dB;; Jin Hu tire is 68.6dB, which lags behind two rivals. If you want to know the secret, study their tire patterns and structures.

Sliding test

In order to save fuel consumption, it is necessary to ensure the correct tire pressure, which is known to all drivers. However, even if the tire pressure is the same, the rolling resistance of different tires is different due to the differences in tire materials and tread design, which will affect the fuel consumption level of the car more or less.

It tests the distance traveled by three sets of tires on the same road from a speed of 50 km/h to a complete stop. In order to ensure the accuracy of the test results, it is necessary to strictly monitor whether the wind power and direction meet the test conditions. Of course, it is more important to measure the tire pressure repeatedly before and after each set of tires is loaded to ensure consistency. The test results show that Maggie has the longest sliding distance, sliding out of 8 12 meters, regaining the balance for her poor braking performance before; The sliding distance of Hankook tire is 778 meters; Kumho tire ranks last, 7 12 meters. The ranking of this project is just the opposite of the brake test. It can be seen that in the choice of rubber formula and pattern design, we can usually only choose between the two opposites of grip and low rolling resistance, and it is difficult to achieve a win-win situation. Wetland braking

The brakes on wet roads are now protected by ABS, but the drainage ability of tires is still a very important factor. ABS can only ensure that the wheels will not lock. To really slow down within a safe distance, we must rely on the tread pattern to split the water film to grasp the ground.

The emergency braking distance with an initial speed of 60km/h was tested in a large area with accumulated water. The best braking performance this time is Hankook tire, and the braking distance is only 14.7 meters. It seems that four wide drainage channels have played a positive role. Kumho tire with excellent dry braking performance failed to keep ahead on wet land, but its braking distance was only slightly longer than the first one, which was15.0m.. The Maxxis tire with poor braking performance on the wetland slipped out of the water15.6m.. Wetland handling is similar to dry land handling, and the lateral adhesion limit of tires on wet roads is still tested by driving on a fixed circular curve. The difference is that in a certain part of the circular trajectory, we artificially created a stagnant water area. After the vehicle enters this waterlogged area, the handling ability will inevitably decrease compared with the dry road surface, so the method and equipment we adopt are the same as the dry road surface test. The lateral acceleration (G value) of different tires before slipping in the stagnant water area with a fixed circumference is measured, so that the lateral grip of tires on wet roads can be evaluated by this result. Theoretically, tires with good drainage performance will have better lateral stability on wet roads.

The actual test results are different from wet braking, and Hankook Tire still ranks first with the best score of 0.75g; The second place became Maggie, whose lateral limit of wetland reached 0.73g, and compared with the results of dry land control, their lateral attachment limit on waterlogged pavement decreased by 0.06g, so we must be cautious when driving on wet pavement. This time, Kumho tires came last. Its wetland control performance is 0.07g lower than that of dry land, and it has failed to catch up with its competitors in drainage performance, so it is still at the bottom in control.

On the whole, among the three sets of tires, Han Tai OPTIMO H426 is the best. Its overall performance is relatively balanced, and it has advantages in handling safety and noise reduction, but there is no obvious weakness in other aspects, just like a three-good student. Maxxis MA-65 1 and Kumho Powermax 769 also have their own advantages, such as low rolling resistance of Maxxis and safe dry braking of Kumho, which can be regarded as selling points, but for tire performance, balance is the most rare. As far as the tire test results are concerned, Maggie's comprehensive score ranks second, and Kumho is a bit too biased.

Of course, we have to consider the price factor. The retail prices of the three tires we collected in the Beijing market are Han Tai OPTIMA H426 620 yuan, Jin Hu Powermax 769 500 yuan, and Maxxis MA-65 1 540 yuan. Comparing brand, performance and price together, the conclusion may be different.
