The Kite Runner, the first novel of Afghan-American writer Khalid Husseini, tells the story of two Afghan teenagers. In the 1960s, Amir was born in a rich area in Kabul, Afghanistan. His best playmate was Hassan, the son of a servant. Every winter, they will go to the movies together and take part in a kite-flying competition.

While chasing kites, Hassan was surrounded by a group of bad youths. In order to protect Amir, he made enemies with bad youth, and then tragedy happened.
