Yantan Hydropower Station is currently the largest hydropower station built in Guangxi and the largest hydropower plant currently in operation by China Datang Corporation. The power station is located in Yantan, Dahua Yao Autonomous County, Guangxi in the middle reaches of the Hongshui River. Town is the fifth cascade power station in the Hongshui River comprehensive utilization plan. The power station is mainly for power generation and also has shipping benefits. The maximum dam height of the power station is 110 meters, the maximum water head for power generation is 65.5 meters, the minimum water head is 37 meters, and the design water head is 59.4 meters. The normal water storage level is 223 meters, the corresponding storage capacity is 2.6 billion cubic meters, and the adjusted storage capacity is 1.56 billion cubic meters. The power station is equipped with four Francis turbine generator units with a single capacity of 302.5 MW, with a total installed capacity of 1,210 MW, a guaranteed output of 242 MW, and a multi-year average power generation of 5.66 billion kilowatt hours. The project started in March 1985, and was successfully closed one year ahead of schedule in November 1987. The first unit was put into operation in September 1992, and all four units were put into operation in June 1995.
