The newly-built Qincun Reservoir will inundate the land area of 10635 mu with 666,400 square meters of various houses. The inundation affected 28 administrative villages, with reservoir migrants 10 164 people. Where the water conveyance tunnel passes, it is necessary to rebuild the Jiangba line (highway) 14.5 km of provincial highway 36.
Qincun Reservoir Project is an important project for water transfer, water resources allocation and flood control in eastern Zhejiang determined by the overall planning of water resources protection, development and utilization in Zhejiang Province, the planning of water resources allocation in Qiantang River estuary and the comprehensive planning of Cao 'e River basin. It is an important part of the East Zhejiang Water Diversion Project and is listed as one of the first projects to be built in advance during the 11th Five-Year Plan period.
After several years of preparation, Qincun Reservoir broke ground on February 28th, 2009.
