Introduction to Trinity Religion (Putian)

Trinity teaching, also known as Xia teaching, takes "Buddhism belongs to Confucianism and Confucianism belongs to Confucius" as its doctrine. The founder of the Trinity is Lin Zhaoen, a Putian philosopher in the Ming Dynasty (1517-1598). He advocated teaching disciples from the 30th year of Jiajing of Shizong in Ming Dynasty (155 1), about the middle of17th century, and the Trinity began to develop gradually. Trinity religion is a local folk religion, which was first popular in Puxian dialect area, namely Putian and Xianyou counties, Hui 'an county in the north and Fuqing county in the south. In its heyday, it was popular in Fujian, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Hubei, Anhui, Nanjing, Beijing, Henan, Shaanxi, Shandong and other places. In modern times, with the footprints of overseas immigrants, it became popular in Southeast Asia and Taiwan Province Province of China, and spread to Europe and America. At present, there are nearly 300,000 believers at home and abroad. Scholars studying philosophy in Japan, Germany, Australia, Russia and the United States are very interested in the Trinity and have conducted extensive and in-depth research on it. Since the reform and opening up, with the implementation of the party's religious policy, overseas believers have been paying close attention to the development of the Trinity. Since 1987, compatriots at home and abroad have generously donated money to rebuild Dongshan ancestral hall. The former site of Dongshan Overseas Chinese Society where Lin Zhaoen gave lectures to his disciples has been destroyed many times. Now Dongshan Ancestral Temple has regained its former glory. Approved the establishment of Dongshan Ancestral Temple Management Committee, and Dongshan Ancestral Temple became the main historical site of Putian, a famous cultural city. Believers at home and abroad came here in an endless stream to worship.

The so-called "trinity religion" is the unity of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. Because it has some characteristics of religion, some people think it is a local folk religion. It was founded by Lin Zhaoen, a student in Putian County (now Licheng District, Putian City), Xinghua Prefecture, Fujian Province, during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty (1522 ~ 1566). Lin Zhaoen, whose real name is Mao Xun, whose real name is Longjiang, is known as Gu Zi, Xin Yinzi, Chang Ming, Xu Hun and Wu Shi. His disciples respectfully called him Mr. Three Religions, Lin He, the leader of the Trinity, and he was also known as the former master of the Three Religions in Xiawu Taoism. Born in the 12th year of Zhengde in Ming Dynasty (15 17), he died in the 26th year of Wanli (1598) at the age of 82.

Lin Zhaoen was born in a very prominent family of academic officials. Starting from Lin Zhaoen in the Six Dynasties, this family flourished in the Ming Dynasty, with a total of 1 1 Jinshi, with an average of 1 1 year. Especially his grandfather, Fu Lin, was a scholar in the 15th year of Hongzhi (1502). He used to be the right assistant minister of the Ministry of War and the right assistant minister of Duchayuan. He is an important official of the imperial court and has a good voice in politics. Lin Zhaoen, who was born in a scholarly family, of course took fame as his career. He entered school at the age of six and looked stupid. Fu Lin thought he was "ugly" and was deeply disappointed. /kloc-he began to read at the age of 0/6. His "Dr. Jia Yan" is gorgeous and fluent, and Fu Lin is a "great talent". /kloc-When he was 0/8 years old, Governor Pan Huang checked the school, read his papers, and was awarded the title of "Seeing the Truth" to select disciples from Gaocheng. At this time, he is full of admiration for fame. After that, he began to take the provincial examination, but he failed in Sun Shan three times in a row. Especially in the twenty-five years of Jiajing (1546), he thought he was very educated and easily won the prize. He is also very attentive to this provincial examination, and once entrusted his people to pray for his dreams at Jiuxian Temple in Xianyou Jiuli Lake. As a result, I won a dream of "three dice match, throw four fours, and turn for a long time to live". Relatives and friends thought it was a sign that he would have a good dream of being the first in Fujian, and he went to the provincial capital to take the exam hopefully, but the result was greatly unexpected, and he fell out of Sun Shan again. This time, his dream of becoming famous was ruthlessly broken, and he felt confused and even desperate about the future. When he returned to Pupu, he immediately gave up his career and devoted himself to studying the theory of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. He looked for teachers to visit Taoism everywhere, or met people wearing Confucian clothes and knelt down for advice. At that time, many people thought Lin Zhaoen was crazy.

Frustrated in the examination room, Lin Zhaoen has a sense of loss that is not pedantic. At the critical moment when Lin Zhaoen's thought was extremely depressed, the legendary Zhuo Late Spring broke into his life circle, which played an important catalytic role in Lin Zhaoen's ideological transformation of abandoning fame and learning Taoism. According to Fujian Tongzhi, Zhuo was born in late spring in Putian and Jiajing. He was named Wuxian, also known as Shangyangzi, and people called him Xiaoxian. " According to Putian folklore, Zhuo's late spring is regarded as a "living immortal" because of his extraordinary functions and wonderful things. The friendship between Lin Zhaoen and Zhuo Yuechun began in the 27th year of Jiajing (1548). That year, Taoist Zhuo Yuechun called at home and made friends with Lin Zhaoen. In recent years, we have been inseparable, talking day and night, drinking and singing, and everything we say and do is very different from the world. They are called "Zhuo Kuang Lin Dian". What Zhuo said in Late Spring is so profound that only Lin Zhaoen can understand its meaning. Later, Lin Zhaoen compiled Zhuo's conversation with him in late spring into a book called Mei Yan Lu. It can be seen that Zhuo Late Spring, a "little fairy", has a far-reaching influence on Lin Zhaoen's thought of abandoning fame and learning Taoism. In the 30th year of Jiajing (155 1), Lin Zhaoen claimed that "Lu Yu has a master and teaches him truth" and advocated the establishment of a trinity. He declared: "Master" preached the great purpose of the unity of the three religions. But who is the "master"? Lin Zhaoen kept his mouth shut, so that many people speculated at that time. Up to now, many scholars have tried to uncover this secret, but they all ended in vain and became a mystery in the history of the Trinity. However, it is also reasonable for Lin Zhaoen not to say the real name of "Master". Perhaps there is no "Master" at all. In order to make his theory more mysterious and attract more believers, he got the guidance of the so-called "master", which may be the wisdom of Lin Zhaoen and the method used by many founders of folk religions in history. Shortly after Lin Zhaoen founded Trinity Church, his friend Huang Zhou took the lead in joining the church. Later, Huang Daben, Xiao Yinglin, Huang, Lin, Zhu Gan, Lin, Lin and others were successively taught and became the first followers of Lin Zhaoen, and the Trinity Church was established in Putian.

After Lin Zhaoen founded the Trinity Religion, Tie Xin devoted his life to advocating the theory of the integration of the three religions. Although he gave up his career in the twenty-five years of Jiajing, he still belongs to the county students in name, and his speech is still subject to various official restrictions. In order to get rid of the official restrictions, in the thirty-first year of Jiajing, he asked the government to cancel his student status, but Governor Zhu Heng refused to approve. He burned green peony in front of the inspector's residence to show his determination to give up his career completely, but this move was a challenge to the traditional authority of feudal society. Zhu Heng was furious and wanted to order his arrest. Because the county magistrate Dong talked about it, he avoided the disaster. The next year, he went to the provincial capital to see the plainclothes inspector and urged him to cut his student status. Zhu Heng still refuses to allow it, insisting that Lin Zhaoen "give lectures with clothes and towels for all students", otherwise it will be punished as "burning clothes and towels is against the sacred system". Lin Zhaoen gave in and agreed with Zhu Heng's opinion that "the mountain is hidden in the school", ending the "please cut your student status" storm that shook the society. Forty-five years ago, Jiajing, Lin Zhaoen absorbed his disciples as teachers and instilled his theory of the integration of three religions.
