The Three Gorges Complex of Wang, the Old Secretary of Hubei Province

During the period of 1954, Hubei suffered a once-in-a-century flood. Grain fields were flooded, houses collapsed, countless victims were killed and many rescue soldiers died. In the face of the disaster, Wang, then secretary of the Hubei Provincial Party Committee and commander-in-chief of flood control in Hubei Province, did not dare to relax and rushed around the front line of flood control and rescue day and night. A few months later, he lost weight, losing ten pounds at once. After the victory of flood control, Wang personally led a team to find the flood route along the river. He found that 60% of the floods in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River came from the Chuanjiang River above Yichang, so he said to Li Boning, who came to Wuhan from the Ministry of Water Resources to assist in flood control: "It seems that it is impossible for the floods in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River to be controlled without the project. We are lucky this time. If Wuhan is flooded again, I wonder how many people will die. The Yangtze River must be treated! " It was from this time that Wang decided that the Three Gorges Project was a great project with good comprehensive benefits, benefiting the country and the people, and benefiting future generations, and consciously became a firm promoter of the Three Gorges Project. As soon as he sees Mao Zedong, he will bring it up. Even though Wang was imprisoned during the Cultural Revolution, he was still worried about the Three Gorges Project. He wrote to Mao Zedong and asked to go to the Three Gorges, saying, "This is not my personal problem. What does it matter to me personally? I left Hubei and drowned millions of people. I can't take responsibility, mainly for the people. " 1978, the voice of starting the Three Gorges Project sounded again, but it was full of twists and turns. 198 1 year, Wang, who had been transferred to the Central Committee, volunteered to take on the leadership responsibility of the Three Gorges Project and prepared a "military order" on issues such as no delay in the construction period and no breakthrough in investment. Unfortunately, it was not approved by the central government. 1In April and May of 1986, Wang accompanied other leaders to inspect the Three Gorges again, and he was deeply worried about the resettlement of the Three Gorges Project. He thinks that one million people need to emigrate, which is the biggest problem of the Three Gorges Project. Therefore, he specially came to the persimmon garden in Badong County to watch the pilot project of developing immigrants. Seeing Badong's successful practice, he happily said to the comrades accompanying him: "This road is right, and rural immigrants cannot do without land. Badong has a good experience and should be promoted throughout the reservoir area to achieve on-site afterloading and resettlement nearby. " At the last moment of his life, Wang was still worried about the Three Gorges. 1March, 1992 10, lying in his hospital bed, Wang asked Song Demin, secretary-general of China People's Political Consultative Conference, to study the relevant matters of the Three Gorges Project demonstration report, saying, "The Standing Committee and members should fully discuss the Three Gorges Project, brew it repeatedly, and fully express their opinions for and against it." 16, Wang died of overwork. 1In April, 1992, the National People's Congress passed the bill of the Three Gorges Project. According to Wang's wishes, his ashes were scattered on the surface of the Yangtze River in Wuhan, near the island where the Three Gorges Dam will be built.
