Swan Island Elk Nature Reserve is the abbreviation of Hubei Shishou Elk National Nature Reserve. The reserve is located in the old Yangtze River in Tianezhou, Shishou City, Hubei Province. It is bordered by the Yangtze River in the south, surrounded by the old Yangtze River channel in the north and east, and has a flood control dike in the west, which is an agricultural area. It is a typical wetland flooded by rivers. Tianezhou Economic Development Zone is located in the north of Shishou City, on the north bank of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. Jingjiang River reaches Jiuqu in the south and Jianghan Plain in Mapingchuan in the north, with a total area of about 4,000 hectares. In the early 1990s, two national nature reserves, Elk and Dolphin, were established here, located in the waters of the old Yangtze River in the southwest and in the north of Swan Island. Swan Island is one of the most complete and unique wetlands in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. It is praised as "green treasure house", "natural zoo" and "natural museum" by experts at home and abroad.
