Ge, born in Shaoxing, Zhejiang, 1945 was born in Zhejiang county (now Huzhou city) in February. Director of China Institute of Historical Geography, Fudan University, Director of Historical Geography Research Center, Fudan University. Member of International Historical Demography Committee, Vice President of China Qin and Han History Research Association, Director of China Historical Society, Professional Member of Historical Geography of China Geographical Society, and Vice President of Shanghai Historical Society. His main works are: Population Geography of the Western Han Dynasty (People's Publishing House 1986), Unification and Division: Enlightenment from China's History (Sanlian Bookstore 1994, Taiwan Province Jinxiu Publishing Company 1992), and Population Development History of China (Fujian People's Publishing House199)
