Brief introduction of Dali sand garden

Shayuan, Dali County, located in Sucun Town, is the largest inland desert in China with an area of 360 hectares. 20 14 has been approved by the State Forestry Administration, and it has been formally included in the pilot construction of desert park, becoming the first national desert park in our province.

Shayuan is located in the gully of Luowei River, 80 miles from east to west and 30 miles from north to south. During the Western Zhou Dynasty, Qin and Han Dynasties, there were abundant shrub and grass vegetation and various animals, which was the place where horses were herded in past dynasties. Covering an area of more than 400 square kilometers, it is an important bearing place of Tang Wenhua and the largest desert dune zone in the inland plain of China. Forests and lakes are interdependent, with lush vegetation and rich humanities, which has been mysterious since ancient times. Due to the large area and great changes of sand gardens, water, alkali, grass and sand can be seen everywhere in sand gardens. Therefore, people have different names for this complex terrain change: the high place is called sand dune, the low place is called sand depression, the place with water is called sand, the place with alkali is called sand brine, the place with grass is called beach, the flat place is called sand board, and the place with yellow sand is called desert with big gravel.
