How early is the American visa appointment interview?

The earlier you book an American visa, the more likely you are to get an ideal interview time. Non-immigrant visa applicants in the United States are advised to apply at least three months before traveling.

The following materials are required for a visa interview in the United States:

1. Current valid passport and previously issued old passport;

2. Confirmation page of DS- 160 application form with barcode;

3. Relevant certification materials for visa application.

Applicants are advised to go to the embassy according to the scheduled interview time. Please don't line up at the embassy more than 30 minutes in advance. For those applicants who are more than 60 minutes later than the scheduled interview time, they must make a new appointment for the interview.

Due to security considerations and limited reception space, the US Consulate does not allow all parties interested in the visa to participate in the interview with the applicant, such as the applicant's friends, relatives, lawyers or business contacts.

Applicants need to be inspected by security personnel before entering the embassy. Some items are not allowed to be brought into the embassy. These projects include but are not limited to the following projects. The American Embassy does not provide storage service for restricted items.

The following items are not allowed:

1. mobile phone;

2. Any weapon;

3. Notebooks, desktop computers and electronic readers;

4. camera;

5. handbags and backpacks.
