Development history

1880, Arthur Barker founded the company. As a hand sewing worker, he made shoes himself and gave most of the work to domestic workers. 1905, Arthur & Sons moved the company to a small factory on the station road. Charles, the eldest son, became a leather importer. Ernest and Arthur Jr. are committed to fulfilling the World War I boots contract.

This allows the old factory to focus on men's shoes. 1948, the third generation of Bacchus, Albert and Charles brothers joined the firm. Albert became one of the best shoe designers in the world. Charles was in charge of the company until he was in his early 80 s.

1956, the fourth generation. William (Albert's son) followed in the footsteps of his predecessors and became a respected shoemaker and shoe designer by virtue of his own strength. 1986—— The tradition of Barker's footwear industry has been continued in the impressive modern factory specially built by Ors Barton in 1986.
