What is the appointment process for a U.S. business visa?
One of the stages of applying for a business visa in the United States is an interview, but not everyone needs an interview. Before making a U.S. visa appointment, please check whether you meet the conditions for a U.S. visa interview exemption:
On February 13, 2012, the Obama administration further relaxed the visa policy for the U.S. At present, There are two categories of applicants who may choose to use the interview waiver.
Category 1: Applicants under 14 years old or over 80 years old;
Applicants under 14 years old and at least one parent who already holds a valid U.S. visa can choose to use it Interview-free delivery service. Please submit a copy of the child's birth certificate or family's household register, as well as a copy of the parent's passport and a valid U.S. non-immigrant visa. If both parents have valid U.S. visas, please provide copies of both parents' visas. Please note that if one or both parents come to the consulate to apply for a visa in person, the parents should bring their child's visa application materials with them when they come for the interview, rather than going through an interview-free agency.
Applicants who are 80 years old or above (1) have no previous visa refusal record, or (2) the expiry date of the applicant’s existing U.S. visa does not exceed 12 months.
Category 2: Applicants whose visa is still valid or whose expiry date has not exceeded 12 months.
Applicants who travel to the United States multiple times may be eligible to use the interview-free drop-off service to renew their visas. This service allows eligible applicants to apply for a new visa by submitting visa materials through an interview-free delivery agency. By using this service, applicants may not need to travel to the nearest embassy or consulate.
Other conditions:
Must be in China;
The previous visa was Category B (temporary visitor for business/tourism), Category C1 (transit) , Category D (crew), Category F (students), Category J (exchange visitors), Category M (non-academic students) or Category O (visitors with special talents);
Previous The visa must be currently valid, or the visa must be expired for no more than 12 months;
You must apply for the exact same type of visa this time. You must have provided fingerprints at a previous visa interview.
Note: The U.S. Embassy and Consulates began collecting ten fingerprints on November 15, 2007. If your previous visa was issued before this date, you may not have submitted your fingerprints and therefore you will not be able to use this service.
Applicants for renewing F1 (student) visas, if the previous visa contains the annotation "clearance
received" and the visa has expired for no more than three years, through the agency When applying for renewal of a delivery service, all documents listed here must be submitted at the same time. Visa applicants renewing their J1 (Exchange Visitor) visa can use the drop-in service if they continue to participate in the current exchange program.

But in order to make it clearer for applicants, let’s briefly describe the U.S. business visa appointment process and steps. The instructions are as follows:
First, fill out the DS-160 form before making an appointment, and then proceed with the following steps:

1. Go to this website to register as a new user and log in.
2. After logging in, follow the prompts step by step to select the location:
Visa type (non-immigrant visa) - the embassy where you want to make an appointment (Beijing/Chengdu/Guangzhou/Shanghai/Shenyang/Free Interview delivery service) - Visa type (B-1/B-2 business tourist visa)
3. Add an applicant and fill in the visa appointment information form.
4. Next, select the passport/document delivery address.
Currently, the U.S. Consulate provides two collection methods: (1) shipping through CITIC Bank, (2) paying for shipping to the designated address. After selecting, click Continue.
5. Pay the visa application fee
6. Select the appointment date.
After completing the payment, re-enter the page above and you will find that the receipt number is already in the box. If not, just enter the receipt number yourself. Then click "Continue to schedule your appointment" at the bottom
You will see the dates that can be reserved. Click on the date and the time period that can be reserved and how many vacancies are available will appear. After selecting, complete the reservation. ;
7. Print reservation information.
Remember to click "Printable Version", then save it as a PDF file, print it out and take it with you to the interview.
