In the late Qing Dynasty, Shandong people were descendants of people from which region and should be traced back to which dynasty.

During the Sixteen Countries of the Eastern Jin Dynasty and the Northern Dynasties, at least millions of people migrated from North China to the south and the east, and a large number of nomadic people from the north and the west entered northern places such as Shandong, Shanxi, Hebei and Henan. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, facing the threat of Russia and Japan, the northeast of China was finally opened to Han immigrants.
