The history of Pingji Fort
Pingji Fort, known as Pingqiang Fort in ancient times, is located forty miles southwest of Yinchuan City. One of the 18 forts led by Youtunwei in Ningxia during the Ming Dynasty. The year of its founding is unknown, and it was named after the purpose of quelling the Qiang invaders.
Pingjibao Farm was founded in 1959. A large number of demobilized soldiers, young people supporting border areas, educated youth and immigrants from various places came to Pingjibao to participate in the construction. After the military reclamation and agricultural reclamation period, 168,000 acres of land were reclaimed and arable land was 55,000 acres. 20 agricultural, animal husbandry and industrial production and operation units have been formed, with nearly 10,000 residents.
