The Hengshan Mountains in a broad sense, or the Hengshan Mountains, extend roughly southwest-northeast in the southeast of Datong City, Shanxi Province, and in the south of Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. The highest peak is Mantou Mountain on the border of Dai County and Ying County, with an altitude of 2,426 meters. Hengshan Mountain in the narrow sense is located in the middle of the Hengshan Mountains, 10 kilometers south of Hunyuan County, Shanxi Province. The main peak, Tianfengling, is in the south of Hunyuan County, with an altitude of 2016.8 meters.

Qianfo Ridge, about 25 kilometers due south and west of Tianfengling, the main peak of Mount Hengshan, is known as the "Little Huangshan" outside the Great Wall. There is a natural rock on the top of Qianfo Ridge, on which is built a small imitation wood brick pagoda more than 7 meters high, with the four words "Thousand Buddha Pagoda" engraved on it. There are three caves on the south side of the rock under the tower, called "Thousand Buddha Cave", hence the name. Bifeng Temple was built northwest of Thousand Buddha Cave.

Mimazhaoliang is located between the three villages of Shizui, Shaliang and Baiqianggou in Huanghuatan Township. It is 10 miles long from north to south, 5 miles wide from east to west, and has an altitude of 2173.4 meters. Legend has it that in ancient times there was a general's village with many war horses.

Yindongliang is located in the east of Xinigou Village, Qingciyao Township. It is 2 kilometers long from north to south and 1 kilometers wide from east to west. It is 2050 meters above sea level. There are silver ores on the mountains and are suitable for forests. There are currently 1000 acres of young forests.

There are two Dajianshan Mountains. One is located between Xiaohuapigou, Xiachaishugou, Xiaochuanling and Xinigou Village in Qingciyao Township. It is about 1.5 kilometers from east to west and south to north. The main peak is in the northwest of Yinbeigou Village, with an altitude of 2047 meters. There are many birch trees on the mountain. Another mountain located in the southeast of Jingzhuang Village, Jingzhuang Township, is also called Dajianshan. The mountain is named because the top of the mountain is pointed, with an altitude of 1892.8 meters.
