How long is the history of Shiyan City?

Origin of the place name

The place name of Shiyan began in the Ming Dynasty.

In the 20th year of Chenghua in the Ming Dynasty (1484), Xue Gang compiled "Huguang Tu Jing Zhi" and recorded: "Shiyan was built in the south of the county (now Yun County) because of the stream to irrigate the fields." This is the earliest record of the place name of Shiyan.

It can be seen that Shiyan got its name because it was built in the Ming Dynasty to divert stream water to irrigate farmland.

"Huguang Tongzhi Yunyang", which was revised in the first year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1522), records Han Bi's poem "Spring Plowing in Shiyan" of the Ming Dynasty: "The creek is full of water amid the sound of cuckoos, and the hoe is plowed in the south and north, It does not cost the land officials to persuade farmers, and everyone can unite themselves with the sound of waist drum." This vividly depicts the hard work of the people of Shiyan at that time.

Among the "Ten Scenes of Yunyang" recorded in his annals, there is spring plowing in Shiyan.
