Please prepare your passport, SEVISI-20 or DS-20 19 form, I-94 entry-exit record card and CF-6059 customs declaration form before you arrive at the checkpoint, so that you can show them to the officials of the Customs and Border Protection Bureau.
There are four main inspection items at American ports of entry:
1) public health
2) Immigration status
3) Customs inspection
4) agricultural inspection. These four inspections can be conducted by one official or several officials.
When you arrive at the port of entry, please go to the exit of the inbound passengers, arrive at the entry inspection room, and wait in line for inspection according to the different entry visas. Non-immigrant visa holders (F 1) should wait in line for non-residents in the area where foreign tourists enter; Holders of immigrant visas or green cards should be listed as citizens/residents.
Please show me your passport when it's your turn to be inspected, SEVIS.
Submit I-20 or DS-20 19 form, I-94 entry and exit record card (indicating the address where you will live in the United States) and CF-6059 customs declaration form to the immigration officer for inspection.
Traditionally, immigration officials will ask you some questions, such as "staying in the United States", "purpose of visiting the United States", "planning to stay in the United States" and "how much money to bring". When answering questions, you must state that you are a student or an exchange scholar, and the name and address of your school or exchange program.
After asking questions, immigration officials will ask you to leave fingerprints on the scanning equipment and take digital photos on the spot. Finally, they will stamp the I-20 or IAP-66 and I-94, and stamp the note.
Indicate the date of entry (this date is the deadline for visitors to the United States to be allowed to live in the United States), sign the visa status and the time limit for legal re-entry, and set this card on the inside page of the passport.
If you hold a student visa (F- 1) and an exchange scholar visa (J- 1), the United States will allow you to stay in the United States for the necessary number of years to complete your studies. Therefore, immigration officials usually stop at the I-94 form.
The duration column is marked with the identification duration D/S (duration

Status) imprint. No matter whether you have an F- 1 or J- 1 visa, you should note that your passport must always be valid for more than six months when you enter the United States.
note:
If the inspectors can't verify your situation as usual, or you can't prepare the necessary materials, the relevant personnel may arrange for you to go to the "second inspection"
Visit) the interview place. Through the second inspection, inspectors can further understand the situation and verify relevant materials. This inspection is conducted separately from the first inspection procedure in order to enter other brigades in the United States.
Guests will not delay their trip because of this individual situation. Therefore, it is suggested that you prepare the name and contact number of the foreign student consultant or exchange visit in your school in advance, and you should also have it in Africa.
Contact number during working hours (evening or holidays) in case the prosecutor needs to call for verification.
If you can't show your legal documents, you will be refused entry. If this happens, the customs will issue a form.
I-5 15A here you are. This form allows you to enter the United States for a short stay of 30 days Within these 30 days, you must submit legal documents to the customs immediately, otherwise it will lead to serious consequences.
The immigration officer will tear off the exit part of I-94, nail it to your passport and return the third page of I-20 or IAP-66 to you. You should immediately confirm that the information added is correct, and if there are any mistakes, please correct them immediately. Going back to ask or ask questions after leaving the counter will only increase your troubles.
