Most of Connor's works were published at the turn of the new century, with fluent writing and strong local color. The collection of short stories Black Rock (1898) contains three short stories. Although these works promote the Christian meaning of persuading people to be kind, the characters are vivid and lifelike. The Man from Glengarry (190 1) is Connor's masterpiece, which describes the hard life of Scottish immigrants. The viewpoint of restraining evil and promoting good and emphasizing virtue in his works was welcomed by readers at that time. Other works include Speculator (1904), Doctor (1906) and Sergeant Cameron (19 12). After his death, he left an autobiographical manuscript, Postscript of Adventure, describing his travels in Spain in 193 1, expressing his concern about the rise of fascism and deeply regretting the failure of Christianity. This autobiography was revised by his son Jay kim gordon and published in 1938.
