The historical materials of Lanzhou Donggang Airport are recorded as follows:

1929, Eurasian Airlines, jointly organized by Kuomintang reactionaries and Germany, took off from the south, passed through Luoyang, Xi 'an and Lanzhou, then passed through Jiuquan from Lanzhou, passed through Hami, Dihua, Tacheng and Altai, and arrived in the Soviet Union. At that time, Sheng and Ma Zhongying's gangs were fighting with each other in Xinjiang. The plane only flew to Lanzhou, arrived in Jiuquan, and 1932 entered Xinjiang. An airport was built in the south of Jiuquan, and an air station was set up. Airports were also built in Gulang, Wuwei, Zhangye, Gao Tai, Jinta, Dunhuang and Anxi counties. After War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression started, a military airport was opened near Jiayuguan, and the south airport was also expanded. Except for the two airports in Jiuquan, few planes landed in airports in other counties, while Gulang, Gao Tai and Jinta didn't land at all, just wasting people's money, digging graves and dumping corpses in the wilderness. In that year (1932), Jiuquan opened its air route, and airports were built in all counties in Hexi. Eurasian Airlines, jointly organized by the Nanjing government of the Kuomintang and the German government, took off from Nanjing, passed through Luoyang and Xi 'an to Lanzhou, and then passed through Jiuquan, Hami, Dihua, Tacheng and Altai from Lanzhou to the Soviet Union. With the opening of the air route, airports have been built in all counties in Hexi, and the airport was first built in the south of Jiuquan. Zhangye Airport is built in Dashabao. During the construction process, local Jiabao took the opportunity to apportion manpower, animal power and donations to the working people endlessly, and tortured and blackmailed the migrant workers for two years. According to the above records, the airports built in these places, except Jiuquan Airport and Jiayuguan Airport, which were reopened after liberation, and Wuwei Airport became the training airport of the present Air Force Wuwei Aviation School, all other airports have become historical sites, or farmland, or construction land, or for other purposes.
